Have We Returned to the Age of McCarthyism?

    "I believe there's about 78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party who are members of the Communist Party. It's called the Congressional Progressive Caucus." - Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.)

    It's unclear if this was intended as a joke, as Rep. Allen West clearly lacks the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality. How is this man an elected official? Obviously we've seen much worse in much higher positions, but is this kind of Neo-McCarthyism something that is spoken about behind closed doors? Do his colleagues have similar views? 

    Is it just me or does he resemble the Simon Phoenix, the villain of "Demolition Man"?

    Hold on to your butts, this is the prelude to the end of the world.
