With the Genocide in Homs and a True Political Standoff...Where Are We?

by Jim Kopetz

As Bashar Al-Assad continues a massive slaughter of his own people, where does America stand? Is this Kurdistan in the early nineties?

Right now there is a conflict in Syria. It can't be classified as a war, because massive civilian casualties and the overwhelming assault Assad has launched on his own people is nothing short of genocide. There has been little talk of late as this civil bombardment rages on.

Egypt looks as if it's going the way of an Islamic theocracy, similar to Iran or Saudi Arabia. Will Syria tip the same way? I believe so, though that doesn't mean I don't support deposing a dictator of brutal genocide and rape. Where does one weigh the now against the possible futures? An eye for an eye? A god against god? Men against men. This is the prelude to the end of the world.
