Catcher in the Rye stands out in both its audacity and simplicity. It is a story about youth first and foremost, and the implicit pain of growing up. It can be both celebrated and denigrated, each serving a piece to the puzzle. You see, Salinger wrote truth. And never had he approached truth as he did in 'The Bananafish'. It is absolutely a must read and can be found in Salinger's "Nine Stories". It's Hitchcock on acid.
This is the prelude to the end of the world.
